The current General Manager/CEO has announced his retirement after 15 years of dedicated service. The Board has contracted with Holmes Executive Search to facilitate the search process.
SBEC (SBEC.org) is an electrical distribution utility serving approximately 30,000 meters in all or part of seven counties in the area west of Houston. The cooperative has a staff of 115 employees, 4 office locations and annual revenue of over $84 million.
The cooperative headquarters is in Bellville, Texas (http://www.cityofbellville.com/). Bellville, Belle of the Bluebonnet Country, is the County Seat of Austin County, Texas. It's close in proximity to Houston and Bryan/College Station, but noted for typifying the small town country life. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with a diverse membership, as well as with team members. A firm grasp of the electric utility industries’ evolving legislative and regulatory challenges is important. A minimum 10 years of demonstrated leadership with at least 5 years of senior management experience in the electric utility industry is required. An understanding and respect of the cooperative principles and business model is required. A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a desire to continue learning is preferred.
