The Center for Social Organization of Schools is seeking a Senior Project Officer – CSOS who will be responsible for a variety of high-level organizational and strategic planning efforts connected to the Everyone Graduates Center. This individual will demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills to interact with all levels of state and district leadership, as well as non-profit partners, and foundations to support the implementation of all program initiatives including the Cross State High School Redesign Cohort, Pathways to Adult Success Learning Community and Expansion of the Early Warning System Work with vulnerable populations, to career preparation, and broadly across the nation.
Sr. Project Officer reports to the Chief Design Officer (CDO) and is responsible for implementing and managing specific programmatic aspects of the Everyone Graduates Center as assigned by the CDO. Please note: the work location is flexible.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead proposal development and strategic partnerships with foundations, states, districts and principals, and non-profit/community partners
Lead and act as technical expert for states, districts, non-profit partners, and projects assigned
Project manage one or more projects, including organizing and managing collaborative efforts involving multiple, non-profit, community organization, and school district/state LEA partners, including developing workplans, managing deliverable schedules, keeping multi-party efforts on schedule and working collaboratively, troubleshooting and finding alternative solutions
Co-create materials customized for presentations, artifacts and tools. They include how to guidance, implementation rubrics and self-assessments, written descriptions of examples of effective practices, success stories, visuals, and a variety of documents enhancing communication supporting the implementation of Everyone Graduate Center programs and projects across states, districts, and non-profit/community partners
Serve as key member of the design unit of the Everyone Graduates Center working with the Director and members of the design team to successfully organize and implement initiatives that result in achieving the mission and vision
Design and implement programs to support State DOE, School District and non-profit/community organization leaders to develop knowledge and capacity to implement school redesign, early warning/on-track systems, and pathways to adult success and to lead the creation of evidence-based action plans, customized to local contexts and based on community input within their states/districts/communities
Design and facilitate training virtual and in-person workshops tailored for each state, district, non-profit partner videos, readings, digital presentations, and learning activities
Organize learning communities of state, district, and non-profit/community organization leaders, serve as thought partner to learning community members
Co- design and support program monitoring process for projects; as needed
Make presentations to state, district and non-profit leaders
Design protocols for initiated projects; support planning committees of community leaders and experts, as appropriate
Demonstrate technical expertise with two or more of the following: secondary school improvement/design, transition from high school to college and career, and early warning/on-track systems
Keep current on educational issues of importance through literature review, contact with social and professional communities, and participation in relevant conferences
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Master's Degree in related field
Five years of experience
Additional experience may substitute required education to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula
Master's Degree in Education
Special Knowlege, Skills & Abiities:
Experience leading cohorts of school and district leaders
Experience working with school teams and principals
Experience designing technical assistance plans for schools and districts
Extensive communication skills, both orally and written
Experience with at least two of the following: Early Warning Systems and Data Dashboards, secondary school improvement/redesign, and post-secondary pathways/transition from high school to college and career
Experience with applications and management of grants
Significant skills in organizing, analyzing, presenting data, reaching conclusions and developing recommendations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with a wide range of individuals
Motivated and results oriented
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
