Position Summary
The Rice Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM) supports and promotes Rice University's wide-ranging efforts to improve K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in all Greater Houston Area school districts. We are proud to serve as the central point of contact for school districts, parents, students, nonprofit organizations, university faculty, and others in the Greater Houston Area regarding various STEM outreach programs and events at Rice. The Program and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the administration of a program or set of programs. He/She administers the daily operations of the assigned program(s) which includes responsibility for three or more key program related functions: program operations, student support and recruitment, budget and financial, human resources, events, outreach and communications.

Ideal candidates should have extensive skills and experience in coordinating multiple programs and STEM outreach.

Essential Functions
* Administers the daily operations of assigned program(s) with general guidance of a faculty member or a senior staff member
* Conducts research, analyzes data, identifies trends and develops reports
* Plans and monitors annual project budgets, assists in the development of longer terms budget plans
* Recommends and implements outreach plans, including communications, events, marketing, conferences, etc.
* Plans and coordinates logistical aspects of recruitment activities
* Provides support to faculty, staff and students as related to the program
* For academic programs, may assist with graduate student recruitment and admissions, student records, curriculum support, coordinating the accreditation process, managing scholarships and fellowships, and monitoring student progress.
* Performs all other duties as assigned

Additional Functions / Information
* Coordinates outreach efforts for the department
* Manages outreach platform for the department to coordinate outreach efforts with Rice students
* Facilitates outreach events in school districts and throughout the Houston area

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree
* One year of related experience in program coordination or outreach
* Ability to learn new strategies
* Written and verbal communication skills
* Data analysis skills
* Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Good organizational and time management skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
* Attention to detail
* Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources
* Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in an institution of higher education
* Experience with an Oracle business system
