The Executive Director of Special Education, under the formal direction of the Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, is a critical position in working towards improved outcomes for students with disabilities. The Executive Director serves as the instructional leader in promoting student achievement and well-being by ensuring that all identified needs of students are met, and that appropriate laws and regulations are followed, resulting in programming geared to eliminate disparities in achievement and to ensure college and/or career readiness for students with disabilities. This position shall assist in developing and implementing appropriate special education services, assist with the supervision and evaluation of staff, coordinating curricular resources, oversee all fiscal budgeting for special education, and monitoring direct compliance with state and federal mandates; and will consult and plan cooperatively with special education staff, designated instruction and service staff, general education staff administrators, parents, and agency representatives. The Executive Director of Special Education is responsible for providing specialized system leadership using inclusion as the framework for ensuring equity, access, and support to all students in Redondo Beach Unified School District.

Experience working with pre-kindergarten through 12th grade teaching, administrative, program or related experience working with special education programs and services.

Applicant must hold an appropriate, valid California Administrative Services Credential, and a valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential or a Pupil Personnel Services Credential.
