Brief Summary of Work for this position:
The Administrative Associate for the Office of the Dean in the Watson College of Education is responsible for coordinating, managing, and completing processes and procedures related to the business operations. This individual will independently coordinate and direct office support activities and develop new administrative processes and procedures as needed. This position communicates with the faculty, staff, students, offices across campus, and the public.
The range of duties includes, but are not limited to:
- Serving as the office manager for the Dean's Office.
- Acting as a facilities coordinator for the Education Building, Friday Annex, and McMillan Modular, including entering and monitoring building maintenance work orders.
- Serve as designated key coordinator and building access manager. Receptionist duties.
- Monitoring office supplies/inventory, handling surplus requests, cash receipting, and purchasing materials and equipment.
- Processing travel requests, reimbursements, and independent contractors.
- Administering multiple budgets.
- Assisting in the supervision of student workers and graduate assistants.
This position works in coordination with and as a backup for the Dean's Executive Assistant. In addition, this position creates and monitors room reservations for the Education Building and coordinates logistics for Watson College of Education events. Types of logistics included, but are not limited to: Event planning, scheduling rooms, catering requests, technology support, parking, room arrangements, and event set-up.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience :
- Associate's degree in business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Professional office/administrative experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite in particular proficiency in Word and Excel
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions

The Watson College of Education (WCE) (www.uncw.edu/ed) is a rapidly growing college with over 65 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master's programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master's and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership. It offers several international study programs, a newly developed laboratory school, and maintains partnerships with numerous school districts, community colleges, and colleges/universities in the region.
