Position Summary:
The Graduate Assistant of Student Affairs will work under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Community Engagement to help coordinate and oversee the Homework Hotline tutoring program. The program services the community and is designed to help students in local K-12 schools with their homework and have their questions answered by qualified and knowledgeable Harvey Mudd College student tutors. The Graduate Assistant will lead Homework Hotline marketing and outreach efforts to increase awareness of the program. This is a temporary, part-time position that may be extended based on available funds and performance. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
? Assist the Associate Director, when needed, who serves as the primary liaison between HMC and school districts.
? Assist in hiring and training new tutor team to familiarize themselves with the call management system and best practices in over-the-phone tutoring
? Assist with developing assessment tools; and with gathering data to help evaluate, modify and implement strategies that will best meet the needs of student callers and student tutors.
? Provide outreach and education to diverse audiences through presentations, trainings, one-on-one meetings, community events, media outreach and other outreach strategies.
? Maintain the website and social media channels to increase engagement.
? Organize, create and measure creative campaigns to increase community presence of Homework Hotline.
? Maintains community presence by continually updating resources and contacts.
? Establish and maintain relationships with organizations and new partners.
? Perform administrative duties, such as overseeing mailings, marketing materials inventory, call management reporting, & tracks outreach activities
? Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

- Ability to work weekends depending on programmatic needs and to be accessible to student tutors during the college’s tutoring program hours. Adept at using software such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Adobe Acrobat.
- Demonstrated interest in education and assisting students with improving their knowledge and skills in math and science.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree and enrollment in a Master’s degree program in Higher Education Administration, Mathematics, Science, Education, or another related field.
Experience: Experience in developing and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with members of various community organizations, schools and outreach programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an educational environment. Experience in managing a student program and working with students.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; stand use hands and fingers and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The individual must regularly lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
