BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, perform a variety of
specialized accounting duties in support of assigned accounts and functions; maintain, review, audit
and adjust assigned accounts; prepare, reconcile and maintain a variety of manual and automated
financial and statistical records, reports and statements.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Perform a variety of specialized accounting duties in support of assigned accounts and functions such
as retirement, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll; process, verify and audit financial
forms and documents for accuracy; review accounts for errors and make appropriate adjustments and
corrections.
Calculate, assemble, match, sort, review, code and post a variety of financial and statistical data;
maintain, review and adjust assigned accounts; update accounts and ledgers to reflect income and
expenditures; balance and reconcile various accounts as directed; initiate transfers as needed.
Prepare and maintain a variety of auditable financial and statistical records, reports, statements and
files related to income, expenditures, retirement, deposits, accounts, funds, balances, fees,
transactions, taxes, interest, apportionments, CBEDS, attendance, payroll, warrants, vendors,
purchase orders and assigned activities; review, adjust and assure accuracy of journal entries.
Process accounts receivable as assigned; collect, receive, code and verify incoming monies; prepare
and process receipts; check money totals against receipts and invoices to assure accuracy; prepare,
reconcile and process bank deposits; prepare and follow up on invoices and billings as directed.
Prepare, audit, post and assure proper reporting of school district employee earnings to designated
retirementsystems in accordance with established time lines as assigned; serve as a liaison for school
district employees concerning retirement issues and questions.
Process accounts payable as required; issue, process, audit and distribute accurate payments; prepare,
review, process and evaluate purchase orders, warrants and invoices; prepare invoices for payment;
verify invoices and match with purchase orders; process payroll to assure employees are paid in an
accurate and timely manner as assigned.
Input and update income, expenditures and variety of other data in an assigned computer system;
establish and maintain automated records and files; initiate queries, develop spreadsheets and
generate various computerized reports and statements; assure accuracy of input and output data.
Research, compile, prepare and revise accounting data and documents; compare and reconcile various
fiscal statements, records, reports and documents to assure accurate fund accounting; audit data and
transactions for accuracy and completeness; identify and resolve discrepancies.
Serve as a technical resource to County Office staff, school districts and others concerning assigned
accounting functions; respond to inquiries and provide technical information concerning related
accounts, transactions, records, reports, standards, requirements, laws, regulations, policies and
procedures.
Communicate with County Office personnel, school districts and various outside agencies to
exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, fax machine, computer and assigned
software.
Perform various clerical duties in support of assigned functions as required; compose, distribute and
respond to correspondence; duplicate and distribute materials.
Attend and participate in various meetings as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course
work in accounting or related field and three years general accounting experience.
