TheAdministrative Licensure Coordinator for Licensing and leadership development for educational administrators teaches one or more graduate level courses and works collaboratively with the program director and coordinator in the preparation of candidates to be licensed as educational administrators in Minnesota, and serves as a member of the Educational Policy and Leadership (EPL) program faculty in the department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) to teach specific required courses in administrative licensure. The license areas are school superintendent, K-12 Principal, Director of Special Education and Director of Community Education.
The Administrative Licensure Coordinator collaborates in the processes for ongoing development and continuous improvement of the licensure program through teaching, advising and recruiting of students in a graduate level program. They assist in seeking and establishing additional administrative licensure cohorts and form linkages with prek-12 schools, especially as it relates to the professional development of aspiring superintendents, K-12 Principals, Directors of Special Education and Directors of Community Education.

Teaching/Student Advisement (30%):
Teach graduate-level courses (OLPD 5396 – Field Experience in Pk-12 Administration: Authentic practice in leadership, OLPD 5385 – Licensure Seminar; OLPD 5386 -- Leadership Portfolio Seminar)
Assist in the recruitment of students and faculty, advisement, field placement supervision
Evaluate licensure candidates.
Participates in administrative team licensure meetings to set direction for the area
Respond to student inquiries and meet with students as required.
Advise students with regard to academic concerns and program issues.
Be involved in state and national organizations to keep abreast of current trends and best practices in Educational Leadership.
Collaborates in the development and continuous improvement of the internship program.
Facilitate pre-internship meetings
Review pre-panel student preparations.
Program Development (30%):
Collaborate in the processes for ongoing development and continuous improvement of the licensure program.
Be involved in state and/or national associations associated with licensure areas and keep abreast of current trends and best practices in educational leadership.
Participates in administrative licensure team meetings to set direction for the licensure program and the principal’s academy.
Assists in seeking and establishing ongoing relationships with schools and school districts to enhance the quality of the licensure program.
Assists the director and coordinator in the seeking creative and innovative ideas to improve the licensure program’s effectiveness with students.
Assist in course logistics
Assists in adjunct selection and training
Cohort Development (20%):
Assist in seeking and establishing additional administrative licensure cohorts.
Works with cohorts to address unique needs of cohort members
Supports cohort internship efforts.
Coordination with Other Agencies/Programs (20%)
Form linkages with prek-12 schools, especially as it relates to the professional development of current principals preparation of administrative licensure candidates.
Provide support as necessary to Minnesota principals academy.
Other duties as assigned by the program director.
MA, MEd, PhD, or EdD in educational administration or a closely-related field, with evidence of background in school leadership and/or applied educational research.
Minnesota licensure in the following categories: school superintendent, principal or director of special education
Experience working as a school superintendent or assistant superintendent, or director of special education while holding a license valid for those positions.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office and the internet.
Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
At least seven (7) years of total experience in either a traditional or an alternate setting in a combination of the license areas noted above.
History of involvement in state and national professional organizations aligned with the area(s) in which the applicant’s licensure is held.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Experience in school leadership in diverse and/or international settings
Current understanding and experience in implementing best practices in school administration, principal leadership, supervision of principals and evaluation of principals, special education leadership.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
Appropriate background to teach graduate-level courses.
