Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II in the Child & Adolescent Services – School Based Program for Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
Under direction, the Mental Health Clinician II serves as the senior mental health practitioner who provides lead functions for the program, to include screening of intakes and referrals, care coordination, ensuring completion of program specific documentation and/or comprehensive assessment and therapeutic intervention for the psychological and social needs of child and adolescent (5-18 years), including development of treatment plans, conducting individual, group, and family therapy, and providing case management. Assists with the provision of clinical supervision to licensing candidates as assigned.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients including coordination of treatment, scheduling of groups, and liaison with community agencies as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated to assigned clients, including children and adolescents (5-18 years).
Conducts accurate assessment and involves client and/or family in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans in accordance with accepted professional and University Behavioral Health Care standards.
Communicates and provides therapy with empathy and concern for the students as indicated by feedback from students, families, team members and supervisors.
Collaborates effectively with other staff members, referral sources and social support networks to provide treatment and care for clients and families.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health discipline plus two (2) years post master's experience in the mental health field, or Doctorate Degree.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
