The City of Aurora is seeking a seasoned and politically astute Deputy Director of Recreation Services We are seeking a business minded executive with municipal recreation experience able to build the trust and support of staff and the community. Strong leadership, diplomacy, financial acumen, and policy development skills will serve the successful candidate well. Reporting to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space, the Deputy Director supervises three direct reports and an overall staff of 140 full-time and 500 seasonal employees while planning, supervising, and administering the activities of the City of Aurora recreation facilities, programs, and golf courses. Competitive candidates will be approachable, effective communicators with the ability to demonstrate flexibility and strategic compromise.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of demonstrated leadership and management experience in an active, highly engaged community. Business experience in a recreation setting that included supervision of large teams (in excess of 100 FTE) is also required.
