In most instances, the target group of youth to be enrolled is young people, ages 14-24, both in and out of school. The Community Youth Programs is grant funded; the Youth Coordinator position is responsible for ensuring programs meet the requirements of the grant that funds the program. The Youth Coordinator will work with community and school personnel as well as our partner agencies to implement a comprehensive and coordinated youth program that may include homework assistance, work preparation programs, enrichment, arts and recreation activities, and college preparation workshops as determined by program parameters. Salary & Compensation

Equivalent experience/training (Required)
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact with staff of schools, school district and community organizations as well as youth and parents. (Required)
Writing, speaking and listening skills to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. (Required)
Demonstrated ability, experience and sensitivity in working with the at-risk youth population from very diverse backgrounds in Los Angeles. (Required)
Specialized knowledge of adolescent development and particularly the problems of at-risk youth. (Required)
Demonstrated working knowledge of the multi-cultural background of the LA community. (Required)
Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the LA community. (Required)
Ability to manage time effectively and skill in organizing workflow to accomplish established goals. (Required)
Ability to work professionally in varied and complex situations, as well as highly tense interpersonal situations in the community. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team. (Required)
Demonstrated ability in working autonomously in a highly self-directed manner. (Required)
Demonstrated ability to produce flexible solutions to complex situations, and to problem-solve creatively. Employment with the UCLA Community Based Learning program for a minimum of one year. (Preferred)
Knowledge of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act regulations. Knowledge of policies and procedures that are required under Federal, State and City EO, Disability and LEP regulations. Bilingual - Spanish. (Preferred)
Willingness to work non-traditional hours. A typical work schedule may include evening or weekend hours. (Required)

Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in a related field and / or equivalent experience / training (Required)
