ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Plan, organize, and direct educational operations, activities and services at an assigned Dual Immersion elementary school including curriculum and instructional programs, processes and procedures; provide instructional leadership, formulation, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs to meet the needs of diverse learners; assure compliance with applicable federal, State and local laws, codes, rules and regulations.
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of certificated and classified personnel; interview and select employees and recommend new hires, transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; assure proper contract management including knowledge of the content of the contracts with various employee groups; direct the development and implementation of staff development activities for faculty and administrators.
• Allocate, direct and monitor resources for optimal student academic achievement and behaviors; assure adequate personnel, instructional materials and resources to meet program and service needs; manage, evaluate and oversee effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school including extracurricular activities, instructional programs, discipline systems and others to assure safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations and emergency procedures.
• Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs, assuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional goals.
• Supervise the instructional programs of the school; evaluate lesson plans; conduct teacher observations and walkthroughs in the classroom; provide coaching and encourage use of various instructional strategies and materials consistent with current research on learning and child growth and development.
• Coordinate and direct communications, programs, services and information between administrators, faculty, staff, outside organizations, the public and various governmental agencies; assure proper and timely resolution of student, administrative, parent, staff, faculty and public issues, conflicts and complaints; monitor, analyze and adjust activities in response to student needs and progress; conduct parent conferences.
• Involve community members, organizations and parents in various school activities, work with civic and community groups, and attend and conduct special activities to improve parent and community involvement in the school.
• Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at school Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings; assist Special Education staff with scheduling meetings and providing guest teachers; provide input on student assessments, goals and placement; attend and advise staff during Student Study Team (SST) meetings.
• Monitor and evaluate programs and services for educational effectiveness and operational efficiency; respond to administrative, staff and public input concerning educational needs; oversee the development and implementation of programs, services, policies and procedures to enhance educational effectiveness, operational efficiency and capacity to meet student needs.
• Analyze and review budgetary and financial data; assure proper site allotment of Title I, Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and general funds; manage and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations.
• Direct and participate in the preparation and maintenance of various records, reports and files related to programs, services, students, budgets and other assigned duties; assure mandated reports are completed and submitted to appropriate agency in accordance with established time lines and requirements; receive and respond to correspondence including letters and e-mails.
• Enforce applicable State and District codes, policies and laws; oversee the administration of site discipline and intervention policies and procedures.
• Provide technical information and assistance to the Superintendent regarding school activities, needs and issues; assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures and programs.
• Coordinate, attend and conduct a variety of meetings; present materials and information concerning school operations and related issues, needs and activities; prepare meeting agendas and materials; participate on assigned committees.
• Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software.
• Plan and oversee other school activities including student testing, program assessment, health and safety drills, facility inspections and others as assigned.
• Provide oversight of the preschool program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
