The Education Department offers a variety of programs that produce qualified candidates who are ready to teach and lead in fields of Childhood, Early Childhood/Childhood, Childhood Inclusive, Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy, TESOL, and Educational Leadership. This Literacy Position specifically oversees graduate programs in Literacy (All Grades) in New York State. Fredonia is proud to announce that this is a SUNY PRODiG+ position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
Teach literacy-focused courses in person at the undergraduate level and graduate level online courses including possible field-based responsibilities;
Serve as the coordinator of all literacy programs and courses;
Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
Maintain an active scholarly agenda, including regular conference presentations and publications;
Provide academic advisement to students;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
This is a full-time, postdoctoral fellow position beginning August 18, 2025 that could be converted to a tenure track (beginning Fall 2027). Salary range for this position is $62,000-$68,000.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
Earned doctorate in Literacy Education from an accredited institution by September 1, 2025;
Prior experience teaching as a literacy specialist or related field in grades PK-12;
Knowledge of online course design and ability to teach classes in-person and through asynchronous online delivery formats;
Knowledgeable of the International Literacy Association (ILA) Standards for the Preparation of Literacy Professionals, the New York State teaching standards and learning standards in literacy, and the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) standards;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues for program growth and enhancement;
Evidence of teaching, scholarship, and service;
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
Experience with instructional technology;
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.
Eligible candidates must demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Classroom teaching experience at the post-secondary (higher education) level;
Experience with literacy assessments and progress-monitoring data collection;
Experience with instructional technologies for PK-12 students;
Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement;
Preference will be given to candidates who are:
Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows;
From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
