The Director of Family and Student Support Services is responsible for providing leadership and management of programs and services that support students and their families, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive educational environment. This position oversees student discipline, family engagement, community partnerships, Extended Learning Opportunity Programs and student nursing services, aligning these services with the District’s vision for student success. This job reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services.
Essential Functions
Coordinate all intra-district and inter-district attendance agreements, policies, and procedures as it pertains to enrollment.
Serve as the District Hearing Officer at Expulsion Hearings.
Supervise and coordinate school-based nursing health services.
Supervise and coordinate Mckinney Vento Grant and other services for unhoused students and foster youth.
Supervise and coordinate with Family Resource agencies.
Direct and oversee the Extended Learning Opportunity Programs and ASES
Collaborate with District School Attendance Review Board (SARB) hearings.
Coordinate and monitor services provided to students through 504 Plans and otherintervention programs.
Develop and implement policies, regulations, and procedures for student Health Services
Act as a liaison between families, schools, and community agencies to support student success and well-being.
Maintain and oversee district suspension, expulsion, and discipline records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Develop, update, and implement policies related to student conduct, student records, guidance, counseling, and related student support areas.
Supervise the development and implementation of before- and after-school programs, parent engagement initiatives, and community partnerships.
Work closely with Juvenile Court staff, city government, law enforcement agencies, and probation department personnel to address issues involving students.
Regularly reports on all matters related to student support services to the Board, administrators, teachers, parents and community groups and organizations
Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel, including school nurses; coordinate related staff training and professional development.
Oversee the development and administration of the department budget, including forecasting funds, approving expenditures, and managing grants for student and family services.
Serve as a district representative in community activities and inter-agency collaborations to support student success and engagement.
Attends Board meetings as needed.
Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 20% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience Job-related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required. A minimum of two years experience as a site administrator. Education Masters degree in job-related area.
