A PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field in computing is required, and teaching experience in computer science/engineering is strongly desired. ABDs within one year of degree completion will be considered. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, we anticipate appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor.
We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in database systems, machine learning/data mining, software engineering, human computer interaction, theoretical computing, or all areas of computer engineering. In addition to their area of specialization, primary teaching responsibilities will center on core computer science and/or computer engineering courses. Candidates should have demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, and must be committed to ongoing scholarship while actively engaging undergraduates. We have a very attractive teaching load at 5 courses (20 credit hours) per year. We strongly believe in work-life balance and a non-competitive, collaborative work environment. North Central College values diversity, equity and inclusion and strongly encourages candidates who would enrich the diversity of the campus community to apply. Experience working with diverse student populations and communities is highly desirable.
