The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) degree prepares individuals to be leaders and advocates in the field of mental health counseling and follows a nationally recognized curriculum aligned with national and state standards. The program's content includes: professional orientation and ethical practice, social and cultural diversity, human growth and development, career development, helping relationships, group work, assessment, and research/program evaluation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will be an anchor faculty member in the new Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. This faculty position has both teaching as well as administrative responsibilities, including:
Field Site/Supervisor Relationship Development Maintenance, and Training
Maintains relationships with a wide range of "partner sites" for student field placement in the area, and regularly updates a list of these sites;
Actively seeks out and engages new partner sites and serves as the first point of contact for inquiries from potential field sites;
Coordinates with the College on the signing and renewal of Affiliation Agreements for partner sites;
Ensures both new and existing partner sites provide the professional training opportunities necessary for students to meet requirements for practicum and internship, as well as certification/licensure in New York;
Handles the initial development of relationships with field site supervisors, including verification of appropriate clinical licensure status, clinical experience, and training in clinical supervision;
Coordinates new supervisor orientations as needed and provides clinical supervisor training events at least once annually;
Coordinates the approval and provision of continuing education credits for training events as appropriate.
Student Field Placement Support and Guidance
Assists students in the process of securing field site placements for practicum and internship;
Serves as the first point of contact for any questions or inquiries related to the field site search process;
Maintains a regularly updated Practicum & Internship Manual, which is posted on the program's website and serves as the guide for all policies and procedures related to the field experience process;
Holds mandatory practicum orientations twice annually, during which students receive an overview of the field experience process, including application procedures, paperwork requirements, hours requirements, and a review of partner sites;
Collects and reviews field experience applications twice a year (September and February);
Ensures that students admitted to practicum & internship are registered for the correct field experience courses;
In consultation with the faculty instructor, handles any disputes between the student and field site;
Maintains regularly updated information about licensure and certification requirements in New York;
Ensures all students on practicum & internship hold current, individual professional liability insurance.
Coordination of Field Experience Course Delivery
Coordinates with multiple faculty instructors teaching field experience courses to ensure consistency in course format, content, and delivery;
Meet with all faculty instructors of field experience courses twice yearly to provide program updates and support, as well as address any questions or concerns;
Educates faculty instructors for field site courses about their roles and responsibilities and ensures that faculty instructors maintain regular communication with field site supervisors for students in their courses;
Maintains appropriate counseling instruction environments for individual and group supervision and clinical training;
Ensures course syllabi are in alignment with the program's current comprehensive assessment plan;
Collects and reviews all student paperwork from faculty instructors at end of each semester (including hours logs and all evaluations), and turns the paperwork in to the CEHD Clinical Practice Specialist.
Program Coordination and Assessment
Assists with annual program assessment activities; coordinate with the Program Coordinator to analyze and report this data to stakeholders;
Meet regularly with the program faculty and Program Director to meet student, faculty, and site supervisor needs;
Coordinate the Program Advisory Council to ensure outside expert input on internship and employment opportunities for students;
Supports adherence to all accreditation requirements for counseling training programs, including initial accreditation support as well as annual reporting requirements.
This is a full-time, term appointed, tenure track, UUP represented position beginning Fall 2023.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An earned doctorate in Counselor Education or Counseling Education and Supervision and a demonstrated commitment to multicultural counseling, advocacy, and leadership. Applicants for a tenured position should have a productive portfolio of research; a track-record of externally funded research;
Experience teaching, mentoring and supervising graduate students;
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
Experience with instructional technology;
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession;
Actively models strategies to support inclusive practices, increase diversity, and empower students, faculty, and staff to maximize their potential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A graduate degree from a CACREP-accredited academic program, experience with CACREP policies and processes, and significant applied experiences in the field of counseling;
Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.
