General Statement of Duties
The Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, development, and administration of the North Central Massachusetts Talent Search (NCMTS) and Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS) TRIO projects, serving potential first-generation-to-college and low-income students from the Athol, Clinton, Gardner, Sizer, and Winchendon school districts. This role includes the management of program staff, project implementation and reporting, fiscal management, all in accordance with MWCC and grant regulations and in coordination with MWCC campus resources. In addition, this role with have primary responsibility for the delivery of a six-week residential summer academy for UBMS students and secondary responsibility for delivery of summer programming for NCMTS in collaboration with the Senior Director of College Access.
Represent funded projects regarding performance and fiscal obligations to the US Department of Education;
Manage project activities and expenditures to ensure implementation and service delivery as described by the funded grant proposal;
Responsible for the accurate compilation of data and writing and submitting semi-annual, annual, and other reports as required by the US Department of Education, and by the College;
Supervise staff, including organization and delivery of quality orientation, onboarding, and evaluation;
Ensure delivery of program activities in support of grant objectives and requirements;
Form, promote, and sustain positive working relationships with high school and middle school partners, including superintendents, principals, guidance and other representatives;
Ensure consistent and clear outreach to parents and intrusive advising with students as needed;
Monitor program progress, specifically student outreach, engagement and recruitment in order to meet and number of students each program is federally funded to serve;
In coordination with the Business Manager and senior program leadership, manage project expenditures and ensure compliance with federal and state legislation, and College policy and procedure;
Responsible for development of curriculum for educational workshops and activities, and working with staff to ensure the quality and consistency of delivery, inclusive of weekly Evening and Summer sessions with students;
Responsible for the maintenance of program databases, and the integrity of the data collection;
In coordination with and the Division of Institutional Advancement and senior program leadership, write and submit grants as needed for the program;
Direct and coordinate large group activities, including mandatory summer programming: recruit and hire staff, manage program logistics and work with the STEM Program Aide in the development of STEM-specific program activities and focus;
Work with schools, community agencies and Advisory Board(s) in support of the programs;
Participate in meetings at MWCC and off campus as they pertain to the programs, students and staff.;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in a STEM field, business, counseling, education, communications, or related field;
Minimum of one year administrative and supervisory experience;
Minimum of six years work experience with low-income, disadvantaged and/or minority youth;
Minimum of three years teaching or counseling experience;
Ability to write clearly and compose concise, coherent reports;
Sensitivity and appreciation for diverse individuals and communities;
Knowledge of college admissions and financial aid processes.
