Administrative responsibilities under the general supervision of the Principal. Assists with the administration, development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of the school’s curriculum and co-curricular and extra-curricular programs to ensure that historically underrepresented groups succeed alongside traditionally high-achieving students. Responsible for a range of management duties including evaluating teachers, evaluating classified staff, facilitating IEPs, and meeting with students, parents and community members. Attends a wide range of evening and weekend meetings or events. May be designated acting Principal or act on the Principal’s behalf when so directed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions The Assistant Principal shall:
Oversee and evaluate the Athletic Director and Athletics, including team management, athletic study hall, athlete sportsmanship/discipline/parent conversations, coach evaluation, etc.
Attend evening and weekend meetings and events, such as boosters, games, dances, etc. Ensure safety management and crowd control procedures at all school functions.
Oversee facilities with the Facilities Manager, including communicating with the district on any major projects.
Work closely with the Activities Director to calendar and support ASB, Leadership, School Climate events, student activities including dances, rallies, Panther Pal, etc.
Oversee the Bay Academy, moderate to severe program..
Assume primary responsibility for the main calendar, including scheduling of facilities for site and rental use, and ensuring no overlap between major student activities.
Be responsible for student orientation and teambuilding events (Breaking Down the Walls), whole community events such as Back-to-School and Open House, Picture Day, etc.
Oversee graduation and senior activities. Work with Parent Group representatives and Senior Class Officers to support organization and facilities planning for Senior Activities and Graduation.
Oversee student attendance including the SART and SARB processes, working with the Family Engagement Coordinator, Attendance Clerk and district personnel, to identify and implement creative ways of improving school engagement.
Approve and monitor field trips and volunteers.
Facilitate IEP meetings and support case managers and students with IEPs
Liaise with student nutrition for supervision and inclement weather changes
Prepare SARC and other written materials.
As needed, communicate with teachers and parents regarding student behavior, discipline and attendance.
Assist teachers with classroom management procedures.
Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate school curriculum with assigned academic departments.
Support assigned student groups such as Robotics, Music, etc.
Guide certificated and classified professional development and support school improvement plans especially for Tier II and Tier III Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
Supervise, evaluate and support certificated and classified staff.
Act as liaison between school and assigned community agencies.
Assist with translation services as needed and send targeted and school-wide parent communications
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education/Training/Experience
Valid California Administrative Services Credential or equivalent
Three or more years of successful high school site administrative experience preferred
Demonstrated leadership performance within the past five years
In-depth knowledge of instructional procedures, techniques, and materials
Experience in working effectively with staff to improve the teaching-learning process
