The Public Policy Department is one of three departments within the Luskin School of Public Affairs. This research project is affiliated with the Los Angeles Education Research Institute (LAERI), an education research-practice partnership housed in the Luskin School. LAERI affiliates conduct research in collaboration with school district partners to inform solutions to important educational challenges. Position Summary
A research team, led by Professor Meredith Phillips, and affiliated with the Los Angeles Education Research Institute (LAERI), is seeking a Data Analyst for a research and development project in the Los Angeles Unified School District focused on understanding and enhancing the impact of digital math learning tools on students’ math engagement and learning. The Data Analyst will have experience with and skills in data manipulation, data cleaning, and data coding using Stata. The Data Analyst will also have excellent attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills. We seek highly organized individuals with excellent time management. The Data Analyst will follow established coding and documentation guidelines; write, review, and execute well-documented code; produce tabular and visual summaries of results; follow established procedures for data disclosure; meet with the research team and other project partners to discuss data and results; and collaborate on research reports and papers.
The Data Analyst will report to the project's senior research staff and work collaboratively with other research staff and partners. We expect the applicant to be able to work from Los Angeles and to work at UCLA more than half of their work days.

Applicants must have relevant data analysis experience in a research setting. (Required)
Experience managing and analyzing student-level data from L.A. Unified or other school districts (Preferred)
Experience working on education-related, research-practice partnership projects (Preferred)
Strong interest in applied research on educational improvement (Required)
Strong skills in education-related data management and analysis using Stata (Required)
