The Director of Community and Youth Engagement, directs, supervises, plans, and coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of youth development and engagement programs and services, that help young people obtain social, emotional, ethical, physical, and cognitive competencies. The Director of Community and Youth Engagement assists with coordinating policies and procedures that promote and maintain effective relationships and understanding between the District and community and coordinates and develops local and regional partnerships to support community engagement and student achievement. In coordination with the Director, Equity and Access, the Director, Community and Family Engagement will oversee the District’s Community and Family Engagement (CAFE) program as it relates to community engagement and partnership efforts.
Any combination of education and experience that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and abilities would be: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field; or possession of a Pupil Personnel Services Credential or Administrative Services Credential.
Knowledge of the District’s Local Control Accountability Plan, vision, mission, guiding principles, and district priorities, skills to communicate with individuals from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, direct and support administrative, instructional, and support personnel, planning, organization, control, and coordination of youth development and engagement programs, project management, and report writing, policies, and objectives of assigned program and activities, budget preparation and control; public school districts, their structures and systems, diverse student populations, parent and public involvement in a school district environment; current technology and best practices in community relations, applicable state and federal laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures, and, and the ability to interpret and present data from a variety of sources.
The Woodland Joint Unified School District (WJUSD) serves students (9,486 enrollment) in the Woodland city limits as well as the surrounding areas throughout Yolo County. Woodland is a vibrant agricultural community with a rich tradition of community members supporting the teaching and learning of all students. The District runs a fully accredited, robust educational program, including Dual Immersion programs, with preschools and transitional kindergarten, 11 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 comprehensive high schools, 1 continuation high school, and alternative educational options.
