Position Summary:
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Program Coordinator II. The Talent Search (TS) East Orange and Upward Bound programs are federally grant-funded programs that identify and assist middle and high school students who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The programs seek a dynamic culturally responsive, human-centered Program Coordinator (PC) to guide early college and career readiness preparation and adaptive school-based and Saturday programming for 6th-12th grade students. Key Program Coordinator II responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Coordinate TRIO programs services;
- Oversee program documentation, service tracking and data input;
- Coordinate program outreach, community engagement and cross program collaborations;
- Assist the Program Manager with the hire of part-time staff;
- Develop TRIO curriculum for Academic year, Saturday and Summer courses while observing and evaluating the performance of part-time staff;
- Work to enhance the student experience by collaborating with community partners, school districts, and other institutional stakeholders.
This position is contingent on the continuation of grant funding.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach. Also requires good communication skills and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, in education, human/youth development, school counseling or social work;
- Minimum 3 years (90 credits) of related college studies
- Minimum of 2 years work experience working in a school, youth development or social services environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two plus years of experience working for a pre-college program with youth ages 12-18;
- Should have a clear understanding of the unique life circumstances of first-generation, low-income youth;
- Experience with student advising, tutoring, mentoring and/or student support services preferred;
- Demonstrated excellence maintaining student records and must have competence using MS Office, Adobe & Canva;
- Requires excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills;
- Requires ability to have a strong service orientation and interact effectively with students, educators, staff, and parents.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Program Coordinator will be responsible for occasional lifting and transportation of equipment and supplies across campus;
- Must work weekends as schedule requires.
