The Executive Director II, Learning Support Services is directly responsible to the Associate Superintendent, Learning Support Services, for the supervision and leadership support of site principals.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge of effective leadership practices that advance student learning and fosters a healthy school community and climate. Ability to support and develop principals’ instructional leadership, and overall effectiveness to advance student and adult learning in a collaborative culture, TK-5 and/or 6-12.
• Plan, organize and coordinate professional learning and improvement efforts for school leaders and all staff. E
• Provide leadership, support and assistance to staff, District personnel and members of the educational community to effect thorough and complete communication. E
• Facilitate analyses of school and District data that addresses beliefs and practices for the purpose of determining the degree to which all students are provided equitable access in successfully preparing for college and career and life with an emphasis on underrepresented student groups. E
• Coach and evaluate the performance of assigned principals, directors, and teachers on special assignment with a continuous improvement focus. E
• Plan and facilitate leadership learning sessions throughout the year. E
• Collaborate with District leaders and departments for systemic improvement efforts. E
• Serve as an advisor to Associate Superintendent of Learning Support Services pertaining to various aspects of curriculum, instruction design, assessment and delivery systems. E
• Provide leadership in the development of processes, strategies and planning to ensure necessary human and fiscal resources are appropriately utilized to achieve the District goals. E
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members. E
• Assist in the employment, observation, and evaluation of certificated and classified personnel, as appropriate. E
• Serve on District Advisory Boards as needed. E
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Skill to – Provide leadership, support, coaching and assistance to principals, directors, and teachers on special assignment; leverage an equity lens to support improved climate and culture; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community members; negotiate and resolve conflict situations; exercise good judgment in dealing with sensitive interpersonal situations; communicate effectively orally and in writing; evaluate personnel; prepare reports; plan and deliver staff training; coordinate with school site and District programs; and manage grant funding.
EXPERIENCE:
Record of successful teaching experience and five (5) years of administrative experience including a minimum of two (2) years as a school principal. Experience preferred in dealing effectively with people at all levels.
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
A minimum of a master's degree, to include graduate work in educational leadership and curriculum development. Possession of a California administrative services credential. Possession of a California teaching credential or pupil personnel services credential is preferred.
The Poway Unified School District is located in northern San Diego County, California. PUSD operates 25 elementary schools (K-5), one elementary & middle school combination (TK-8th), six middle schools (6-8), one continuation high school, five comprehensive high schools (9-12), and one adult school.
