We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as Assistant Superintendent, Business Services. This executive leadership role supports the Superintendent and plays a vital role in ensuring the fiscal health, operational excellence, and long-term success of our district.

About the Role

The Assistant Superintendent oversees all district business operations, including:

• Budget development and financial oversight

• Business Services and Fiscal Services departments

• Maintenance, Operations, Transportation, Facilities & Grounds (MOTFG)

• Instructional Technology (IT) and Food Services

• Payroll, purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, and insurance programs

• Bond and facilities projects, new construction, modernization, and deferred maintenance

• Compliance, reporting, and external financial audits

This role serves as a key member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and works collaboratively with district leadership, site administrators, external agencies, and community partners to support exceptional educational programs through responsible fiscal stewardship and operational leadership.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Minimum 3 years of business management experience, including at least 2 years in school business management

• Experience in accounting, budget development, and purchasing

• Ability to interpret laws, codes, and regulations related to school business operations

• Strong communication, analytical, leadership, and organizational skills

• Proficiency with fiscal software systems and standard office technology

Preferred:

• California CBO (Chief Business Official) Certification

• Experience with QSS and county school accounting systems

About Templeton Unified School District

Templeton Unified School District (TUSD) serves a rural portion of northern San Luis Obispo County and is situated between the larger cities of Atascadero and Paso Robles. TUSD serves students in transitional kindergarten through grade twelve using traditional and alternative education programs with a total school population of 2,350.
