Oak Park is desiring someone to follow our district motto of "Educating Compassionate and Creative Global Citizens".
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Assistant Principal reports directly to the Principal and is responsible for assisting the principal in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This position also includes the supervision of counseling, student activities, and student discipline and general campus and event supervision. The Assistant Principal also serves on the District Management Team, Curriculum Council and the site Leadership Team as well as CTE leadership teams at the Ventura County District Office of Education (VCOE).
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop the master schedule and coordinate teacher and classroom assignments.
Maintain, interpret, and evaluate student records and transcripts.
Coordinate the process of student enrollment and the preparation and distribution of all student records and reports.
Implement and monitor the school’s curricular and instructional programs.
Direct and supervise the guidance and counseling department.
Prepare School, District and State reports related to students as directed by the Principal.
Coordinate the high school standardized testing program, including AP exams.
Share responsibility for the general supervision and discipline of students.
Collaborate in the development and implementation of OPHS discipline policies and keeping stakeholders informed of behavior and attendance expectations and discipline policies and procedures.
Observation and evaluation of certificated and classified staff.
Provide leadership for WASC Accreditation Focus on Learning process.
Share responsibility for the direction and implementation of the OPHS drug counseling and intervention program.
Serve as administrative liaison to school departments as assigned by the Principal.
Assist in the supervision of student activities.
Serves as member of District committees and councils as appointed.
Supervise student compliance with school rules and regulations related to student behavior.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal or District Office.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
CA Ed Code and laws relating to student discipline, student instruction, assessment, suspension and expulsion, attendance, school budgeting, student activities and leadership principles, 504s, Special Education, and current Board Policies regarding students and staff, and community relations.
ABILITY TO:
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to implement the school’s curricular programs, including marshaling and allocating resources.
Work effectively with all levels of District personnel, students, parents, and the public.
Present a positive image of the District and its operations to the public.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Administrative Services Credential.
Five years of successful teaching, counseling (preferred), or other Certificated experience.
Training and experience in broad aspects of school administration, student engagement, whole-school change, and accountability.
Master’s degree preferred.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Additional Salary Information: Annual Stipend for Doctorate - $1K
Work year is 205 days. Start date is July 1, 2026.
