Founded in 1973, The Epstein School is an independent Jewish day school located in Sandy Springs, Georgia, serving students from Early Childhood through 8th grade. The Middle School (grades 5–8) represents a defining period in the Epstein student experience, balancing increasing academic rigor with critical social-emotional growth, leadership development, and character formation. At this moment of strength and stability, Epstein seeks a middle school principal who can guide the division through its next chapter, strengthening academic program coherence, faculty development, student life, and family partnership. The middle school principal serves as the division’s instructional and cultural leader, overseeing the academic program and daily life of the middle school while fostering a supportive, mission-aligned environment for students and faculty. Reporting directly to the head of school, the principal is a key member of the educational leadership team and plays an integral role in shaping the school’s future. Epstein looks forward to welcoming the middle school principal to begin July 1, 2026.

Middle School Principal Application

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Divisional Leadership and Academic Program

• Oversee all aspects of the Epstein Middle School academic program (grades 5–8), ensuring alignment with the school’s mission, values, and whole-child philosophy.
• Ensure a cohesive, developmentally appropriate curriculum that balances academic rigor with social-emotional learning and leadership development.
• Collaborate with academic leaders to ensure continuity and alignment across the K–8 educational experience.
• Monitor student progress and program effectiveness using both qualitative and quantitative measures.

Faculty Leadership and Development

• Oversee the hiring, supervision, evaluation, and professional growth of middle school faculty.
• Foster a collaborative faculty culture grounded in reflection, growth, and shared responsibility.
• Lead divisional meetings and support grade-level teams to strengthen instructional practice and alignment.
• Partner with school leadership on faculty recruitment, onboarding, and retention.

Student Support and Well-Being

• Ensure every student is known, supported, and challenged academically, socially, and emotionally.
• Collaborate with advisors, counselors, learning specialists, and administrators to support student care and behavioral systems.
• Promote advisory, SEL, and leadership programming appropriate to adolescent learners.
• Uphold clear, consistent expectations around student conduct and community values.

Community and Family Partnership

• Build strong, trusting relationships with families through proactive, transparent, and empathetic communication.
• Serve as a visible and engaged leader at school events, Jewish celebrations, and community gatherings.
• Partner with admissions to articulate the strengths of the Epstein Middle School program and support enrollment and retention efforts.

Schoolwide Leadership

• Serve as a member of the school’s educational leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and schoolwide initiatives.
• Support budgeting, scheduling, and operational planning for the middle school division.
• Model Epstein’s mission and values and actively contribute to the life of the school community.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head of school.
