The Community Health Educator will serve as part of a cohort of individuals who will reach, educate, and motivate people in their community to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. This individual will plan and execute two community-wide programs and two in-class/in-organization community conversations per month. The Community Health Educator will be required to attend one North East Texas Counts training session per week.

Duties and Responsibilities: 40% - Serves as a health advocate in one or more of the six following Northeast Texas communities: Panola, Shelby, Harrison, Henderson, Anderson, and Cherokee. Responsible for planning health education and outreach events (including tabling sessions and outdoor fairs) focused on disaster preparedness, the flu and COVID-19 vaccines, and basic needs. Educator will plan and execute two community-wide programs and two in-class/in-organization community conversations per month.Â
20% - Provides face-to-face and virtual health education, basic needs, and disaster preparedness  programming for one or more of the selected counties of the  North East Texas area. Serves as a point of contact within the county for all North East Texas Count initiatives.
20% - Attends one North East Texas Counts training session per week and completing tasks assigned during each meeting. Â 15% - Maintains professional and consistent communication with community stakeholders (i.e. - local non-profit organizations, businesses, pharmacies, school districts, churches).
5% - Performs other duties as assigned the North East Texas Counts leadership team.
Education and Experience: -Associate degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Four years of related experience in public health, health outreach, and education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of health care education. -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak English and Spanish.
Other Requirements: Ability to exert moderate force. Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. Travel required.
