The University of Maryland School of Social Work has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Social Worker (LCSW-C) to join the Positive Schools Center. The Lead Social Worker will apply advanced clinical knowledge as well as skills in social work supervision in order to enhance learning for graduate level social work interns (Interns) and the development of clinical skills for social work staff. This position will lead the field instruction for Interns placed in Baltimore City Public Schools through the Positive Schools Center. This position will also provide weekly clinical supervision to a team of licensed graduate social workers working with the community school strategy with the Positive Schools Center. This position is housed at the University of Maryland Baltimore campus and will work collaboratively with the SWCOS Director of Social Work Education and Field Initiatives to develop and evaluate program goals and objections as well as implement program strategies and best practices.
The selected candidates for this position are eligible for a sign-on bonus totaling a minimum of $5,000. Half of the bonus is payable within the first 30 days of hire and the remaining half is payable after successful completion of 12-month probationary period. The sign on bonus is eligible only to candidates new or returning to UMB.
The Positive Schools Center, an initiative of the Social Work Community Outreach Service (SWCOS), will promote the development of positive supportive and mindful learning communities where students and school staff connect, develop, and grow. The Positive Schools Center aims to partner with school districts to identify and collaborate around issues related to school climate and punitive discipline, especially when those issues result in high rates of suspensions and expulsions.

Essential Functions
Clinically supervise, mentor and support the work of other social workers at the LMSW level within the program which will include weekly supervision, training, and coaching.
Provide program leadership, oversight and clinical supervision for approximately 8-10 Interns in the Positive School Center program. Interns may be in their Foundation or Advanced year of study.
Implement the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies and as well as the University of Maryland School of Social Work Field Education curriculum to develop clear expectations of student performance and learning.
Provides weekly 1:1 educational supervision of at least one hour per assigned Intern and task supervisor. This may include modeling social work practice with Baltimore youth and families as Interns learn social work practice.
Develop learning opportunities for each assigned Intern, using each identified social work competency in relation to the curriculum, and make specific assignments in consultation, as needed, with the Faculty Liaison and task supervisor.
Provides timely review and approval of all Intern assignments (i.e., process recordings, case presentations, client documentation, monthly reports and work hours submitted by the student).
Provides clear constructive feedback to the Interns on an ongoing basis about their performance using assessment tools, such as process recordings, minutes of meetings, and other assessments specified in a Learning Agreement.
Participate in the planning and implementation of Intern education activities (including orientation and seminars) as well as the development of clinical programs and intervention strategies that include staff development and inclusion of evidence supported models.
Participate in Positive Schools Center program activities including those based on program principles, outcome objectives, City Schools priorities. Supports the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to funders and private donors.
Conduct other duties, as are appropriate and assigned.
