GENERAL COUNSEL

To provide professional legal services to the District. Employees in the classification receive administrative direction from the Superintendent.  Incumbents in this job class are designated as Senior Management and do not achieve permanent status in the classification.  Employees in this class may direct, supervise, and formally evaluate the work of technical/clerical support staff.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this position will have 5-10 years extensive experience with school law related matters and experience representing school districts or educational agencies. This candidate will have exemplary verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with stakeholders.

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar Association as well as any combination of experience and education which indicates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position and meet the minimum qualifications as detailed in the job description.   Must be duly and appropriately licensed to practice law in the State of California

Salary:  Competitive and Negotiable.
